istock_000007716967xsmallAccessing NorthStar services is easy. It is free to permanent residents in Australia who are currently unemployed and have a disability or disadvantage. Access to NorthStar Specialist Employment Services is free from discrimination of any kind including: gender, race, culture, sexual preference, age, class, disability, political or religious beliefs.

The service is for:

  • people who are seeking employment
  • people willing to participate in our assessment procedures
  • people who are eligible for employment assistance through Centrelink

When you first ask us about our service, a staff member will talk with you and explain who we are and how the service could help you. An appointment is made to complete an Assessment or information and referral will be given regarding more appropriate services. You can bring someone with you such as a family member, a friend or an advocate when you visit NorthStar.

Priority places will be available to people with a disability from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) background, School Leavers, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, Women with a Disability, people with Psychiatric Disabilities and Acquired Brain Injuries.

Centrelink

There are two ways to access NorthStar services. You can contact us directly and we will help you work through the Centrelink process if we can, or we can at least point you in the right direction.

OR

You can go directly to Centrelink and be assessed and referred to NorthStar. Both processes will require a "Job Capacity Assessment" (JCA) but we can assist with that process if you come to us.
